From operating out of the founder and GM’s home garage in 1975 to a purpose-built 90,000 sq.ft warehouse and office facility in Worcester; packaging solutions company Springpack has grown into one of the markets forerunners. Head of Marketing Simon Rees explains a bit more about Springpack’s successes and their FSC-certification journey.

At Springpack we are very much focused on offering packaging solutions. We have seen our product portfolio expand with the launch of Armour Wrap, our new nano, multi layered machine films and Postal Plus, Springpacks e-commerce postal packaging range.

Springpack was established over 45 years ago in Worcestershire, where we are still based, and we have seen incredible growth over the past few years. We pride ourselves on our strong set of company values and a clear vision: to be the most sustainable environmentally friendly service driven packaging company.

Retaining our carbon neutral status was and always will be key for us. This alongside our ecovardis and ISO accreditations allows us to force the packaging market to become much more eco-friendly and sustainable.

As a large volume of our products are manufactured from paper, for example Cardboard Boxes, it was important for to us to ensure we are offering the most sustainable product we can. We have been liaising with our suppliers to assess which products they hold FSC -certification for, and where FSC certification is not held, we are actively looking at sourcing that product elsewhere.

The evaluation and audit process to gain FSC certification was simple. All the data requested was readily available and our purchasing team had previously aligned our processes and procedures.

We believe that offering FSC-certified products fits perfectly with the ethos at Springpack. As we continue to grow, we want to be known for being an eco-friendly packaging supplier and holding the FSC Chain of Custody Certification is certainly a big part of this.

Any company who is looking to start or advance their eco and sustainable credentials should take a good look at FSC, and the work that is being conducted by them.
