FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC’s vision is that the world’s forests meet the social, ecological and economic rights and needs of the present generations without compromising those of future generations. FSC is a democratic organisation that is governed by members representing environmental, social and economic interests.
FSC UK promotes the FSC system, sets forest management standards for the UK by inputting into the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS), and provides an information service. FSC UK (Ephesea UK) is a registered charity in England and Wales (No 1130203) and a non-profit making company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (No 06792524)
FSC UK is governed by its Trustees, who are also known as the FSC UK Board of Directors. Trustees stand for terms of three years and are assigned to one of the three chambers: economic, environmental and social. The aim shall be to achieve chamber balance with at least one trustee and, normally, no more than four trustees representing each of the three chambers.
We aim for equal representation across the three chambers, and we are currently looking for new trustees representing either environmental or social interests. This would suit someone with a vision on how FSC can positively impact forests in the UK and around the world. We are particularly interested in candidates with knowledge/experience of development and implementation of FSC standards and/or with an interest in smallholders.
We aim for at least three in-person board meetings per year. The frequency of meetings may increase if face-to-face meetings are not possible, and meetings have to be held online. You would be joining an engaged and experienced Board of Directors committed to helping ensure Forests For All Forever.
We value diversity and are committed to equal opportunities. The post of trustee is a voluntary one but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
